The Sassi of Matera, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993, are a unique place with extraordinary charm which testify to how man has lived for millennia in a fairy-tale environment. Pick-up in Matera First Stop: Matera (2 hours) Our journey starts with a walking tour of the famous “Sassi” (historical cave dwellings). The tour continues through the alleys and streets of the Sassi, the natural setting of several films such as 'The Passion of the Christ' by Mel Gibson and 'The Gospel According to Matthew' by Pier Paolo Pasolini. After the tour of Matera, a transfer will bring you to Altamura. °30-min drive° Second Stop: Altamura (1.5 hour) A city of ancient palaces, churches and cloisters, Altamura is known throughout Italy, and beyond, for its very famous bread: cooked in wood-fired ovens and prepared according to ancient tradition, it has a taste and aroma that are not easily forgotten, so much so that it became the first baked product in Europe to obtain the DOP mark. °30-min drive° Third Stop: Murgia Materana (1 hour) On the way back to Matera, you will discover the world-famous Crypt of the Original Sin, also called the Sistine chapel of rupestrian art with an audio-guided tour. °15-min drive° Drop-off in Matera Inclusions: • Round-trip from Matera (Hotel pick-up) • Private tour guide (English) • Admission to: Crypt of the Original Sin (10€ p.p.) • Bread Tasting in Altamura • All fees and taxes

Standard Full or Half-Day Tours: Free cancellation is available up to 7 days (168 hours) before the scheduled departure time for all standard half-day and full-day tours. Please note that we reserve the right to deduct up to 15% of the total booking amount to cover administrative, currency conversion, and transaction fees. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start of the activity, as well as no-shows on the day of the tour, will incur a 100% cancellation penalty and are not eligible for a refund. * The number of hours is calculated from the moment the cancellation request is received until the scheduled start time of the activity.
