Itinerary

• Departure from Matera at 09.00: Meet your guide at your Hotel for an early morning departure.

• Matera: Our journey starts with a walking tour of the famous “Sassi” (historical cave dwellings). The tour continues through the alleys and streets of the Sassi, the natural setting of several films such as 'The Passion of the Christ' by Mel Gibson and 'The Gospel According to Matthew' by Pier Paolo Pasolini. After the tour of Matera, a transfer will bring you to Altamura.

• Altamura: A city of ancient palaces, churches and cloisters, Altamura is known throughout Italy, and beyond, for its very famous bread: cooked in wood-fired ovens and prepared according to ancient tradition, it has a taste and aroma that are not easily forgotten, so much so that it became the first baked product in Europe to obtain the DOP mark.

• Crypt of the Original Sin: On the way back to Matera, you will discover the world-famous Crypt of the Original Sin, also called the Sistine chapel of rupestrian art with an audio-guided tour.

• Return to Matera around 15.00: Hotel Drop-off.
