DESCRIPTION:
Alberobello is a picturesque town located in the Apulia region of southern Italy. It is famous for its unique trulli, traditional limestone dwellings with conical roofs that are found nowhere else in the world.
The history of Alberobello dates back to the 15th century when the area was colonized by the Count of Conversano. The trulli were originally constructed as temporary shelters that could easily be dismantled to avoid taxes, but over time they became permanent homes for the local population.
Today, the trulli are a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Alberobello's rich history. With this tour, we will explore the unique architecture of the trulli, which are clustered together in two main districts: Rione Monti and Aia Piccola.
Another highlight of Alberobello is the Church of St. Anthony, a beautiful example of the local architecture with a striking facade adorned with symbols and motifs. For those interested in shopping, Alberobello offers a variety of local crafts and souvenirs, including handmade ceramics, textiles, and leather goods.
At the end of the tour, you will have 1 hour of free time to have lunch on your own or to stroll around the small craft shops.
